Storytelling is often overlooked as an art form but it takes
practice and work as well as creative mind to achieve. We have included an
evaluation form in each program every year and most of these are returned at
the end of the night. Always the feedback from the community is positive and
powerful! Modern humans enjoy hearing stories as much as a cave dwelling family
did.
The Foothill Storytelling Guild is a group of Northern
California storytellers who bring the art of telling in the oral tradition to
many venues in surrounding communities. We have produced the AWSF five years
and filled the venue to standing room only each year. Funds from the Arts
Council of Placer County, the Arts Commission of Auburn and a local writer’s
organization has allowed us to present the event to the public free. On January
23 we will produce three zoom meeting events. From 11:30 to noon childhood
development professor Ed Lewis will present a children's program. from 1:00 to
3:00 is Open Telling when anyone can tell a five-minute story without props or
notes. In the evening from 7 to 9 pm are the professional tellers who have 20
minutes each to deliver a fairy tale, tall tale, funny or inspiring tale.
