Double Duty for Ruth Stotter

Ruth Stotter will not only present this years workshop but she will also be one of our evening program tellers.

Ruth Stotter is a storyteller, folklorist, amateur magician, author and playwright.  She is the retired director of the Dominican University Certificate-in-Storytelling program and received a lifetime achievement Oracle Award from the National Storytelling Network.  She has articles in a variety of scholarly publications and is also the author of Smiles! 101 ways to bring a smile to a child’s face.  In addition, she has produced CD’s on northern California history and in 2018 and 2019 received Fulbright grants to train storytellers in Thailand and India.   We also want you to know that she enjoys telling stories with both a loop of string and origami paper folding.  Ruth has performed and taught workshops on seven continents and is hoping someday she will receive an invite from Antarctica. Visit her website at
